I'm not quite sure what I expected out of this book. I used to LOVE Eminem and not that I don't like him now but I'm not really into rap like I used to be. So for me reading this took me back to the time when I was into all of that stuff.
I think the book was fairly well written. Being a rapper it seems obvious that Eminem has a way with words, but the way he says things is so simple. He doesn't sugar coat or try to play around the issue. He says what he needs to say and that's it.

As a big time Eminem fan I absolutely enjoyed the book, the background information especially concerning his writing process and insights in the real person behind the figure Eminem. This is a fairly short book with lots of pictures, I would have wished for even more intimate details but still this book is worth 5 stars. However, please keep in mind that I may be slightly biased (because Eminem is the Rap God and who wants to have an argument with God?)

I'm not a diehard Eminem fan, but I do find some of his music and much of his life fascinating. I know next to nothing about hip hop, and a lot of this book assumes that you know certain artists or events or terms, so I likely wasn't the target audience. Overall, I enjoyed it and feel that I learned a bit about hip hop and a bit about Eminem. The book itself is designed beautifully with photos and graphics- I found it very impressive.

Rather shocked at Marshall's tale, but more shocked at the intimate notes he includes. This work focuses mostly on his friendship with Proof, as it was released shortly after his death, but also illustrates a very private life (not much of Kim.. sorry!). Overall, a powerful and visual journey through the life of Slim.
Marshall Mathers is an inspiration to everyone-a fan or not. Not everyone gets to stand up and fight against the difficulties presented in our lives, let alone win. He makes it possible for everyone to believe that they can be whoever they want to be, regardless of who they are now.
A great read, especially for a Stan.
As you would expect, Eminem was pretty candid in this autobiography. There's a lot of neat stuff in there. I was mainly reading this for nuggets of inspiration. It's pretty cool to see the chaotic way he writes down lyrics - makes me not feel so bad about my piles of random papers with half-written poems. Love Eminem, love the book.
I think Eminem speaks his honest truth. Everything he says or does is his life but even the bad mistakes that he makes, he admits them and tells the world so that the world can accept his change that he know has. Eminem is the one and only idol i look up to, maby not so much because of his past but now. now he is awesome!
In this book Marshall B. Mathers describes some difficult and some joyful parts of his life. Events like Dr. Dre, his mom, and his 3 daughters are mentioned. His upcoming in Detroit, Michigan as a battle rapper is a point he wants people to know. He even goes as far as throwing hints towards the rumors of him and Mariah Carey going out.
While I'm certainly not a big rap fan, I do like some of Eminem's music, and I also love reading musician's autobiographies. This one is a little different to say the least. If you can get past the street slang and invectives, it's definitely interesting to read about Marshall Mathers' rise to fame. I think he's a lot smarter and more talented that many people might think.

I loved the paragraph where Eminem writes that he is a regular suburban dad, taking care of the kids, doing stuff around the house and mowing the lawn. Then he says that he mows the lawn naked with a chainsaw. There is always a quick wit lurking around the edges of his writing.
Maybe some people shouldn't write their own autobiography. Maybe they should stay quiet!
This is all about his take on his music career - none of the good gossip that you would expect.

Most controversies are just brushed over and I don’t feel like I know Marshall Mathers any more than I did before. I absolutely ADORED this book, as a long time Eminem fan it was awesome finally getting my hands on this. I must admit as I have been a fan so long there wasn't much that I didn't already know but a lot of the stuff he spoke about was stuff I had heard about from other sources. So it was definitely cool seeing what was and wasn't true in an official book by the GOAT himself.

I'm going to start by saying that this is a COMPLETELY BIASED REVIEW. I have been a huge Eminem fan for years now. His music has helped me so much, I can't even begin to put it into words.
I find it very hard to rate & review non-fiction books, like biographies. Those books are mostly there to tell a story, most likely of somebody's life. Back when this was released, I made a friend of my mom buy this for me in USA. And I'm thankful that I bought this because probably I'm one of the very few people who has this in Turkey. Eminem is my fav artist ever so this book was awesome to me. If you're a huge fan I'm sure you will finish the whole book in a day or two lol.
Not really a big fan of Eminem personally but read this book on a recommendation. Found it to be a very interesting and unique read. Never read anything like it. Was very honest and open about how he got to where he is and what he went through in the process. The handwritten sheets in the book made for a personal touch that many other books lack. I love reading biographies. I think it always challenges me to see that person from a different perspective and it's more powerful when it's real.
Eminem is a really clever guy when you look at this work.
Surprised to find out this wasn't like some year-by-year biography with all of his life details. it's about his thoughts and opinions about several major events in his life my interest was kept the entire time
