genre[edit]

Let the great discussion begin. I've heard a prerelease of the album and it is very, very metal with little to no core/pop like Kezia had. They still have their bizarre rhythmic changes and time signatures, just speed and volume have been turned up to max. If I had to venture a guess I'd put them somewhere in the Prog-metal/mathmetal/thrash metal realm, but lets discuss a bit before we try to label this album. I wish I had the link handy, but I read that Rody calls this album ADD-Metal, which is really appropriate, just not quite legitimate. --Bouyeeze (talk) 21:14, 25 January 2008 (UTC)

I've only heard two songs from Fortress, but based on those, I wouldn't say there is no metalcore influence in this new album. 'Bloodmeat' has a breakdown at the end, and the first ten seconds or so of 'Sequoia Throne' have some very metalcore vocals. But I don't know how much of that is present throughout the entire record. I didn't really hear much thrash (aside from the previously mentioned metalcore influence), and their last album doesn't suggest that's the direction they're going anytime soon, though I heard in an interview Rody mention some thrash elements in Fortress. And though it's alright to use the artists' own words in describing the style of the music, some albums may warrant more thorough and objective description. No doubt people are going to have opinions. In any case, I think we should hold back till the official release. In my opinion, I predict this album will most likely be more metal and more technical/progressive, but maybe not a complete turnaround from Kezia. Plus, I heard there's a keyboard solo.. :O --..Wikiwøw. 00:01, 26 January 2008 (UTC)
There's a breakdown on Bone Marrow, and it still has little hardcore/metalcore influence, I would say, just not nearly as much as kezia.

tracks[edit]

what the hecks with the confirmed tracks? citations or I will delete them. (they don't even sound likely.)204.185.26.251 17:47, 10 October 2007 (UTC)

Blood Meat has been confirmed by the band, and here's the best source I could find for that: http://www.videofact.ca/news/show/26
Vaginal Secretions is a joke that Rody said at a live show once I believe. As for the others I have no idea. Blood Meat I am 100% positive is real though. BinoChrist 19:25, 10 October 2007 (UTC)

Release[edit]

On amazon.com it says Fortress-Protest the Hero-Audio CD, release date October 30, 2007. What's up with that? Nineinchsin 17:14, 28 September 2007 (UTC)

I've never heard of any October 30 release; first they announced November 6th, then 13th. Now it's been rumored for early 2008. Don't know whether that's true or not, though. --....Wikiwøw. 18:10, 29 September 2007 (UTC)
Hey, could someone please reference a source for the rumored early '08 release date? I haven't done a whole lot of searching around, but the only release date I can find is the aforementioned November 13th. I guess I'm just too stoked for the album to believe it; I've seen them play several songs from the album live, and it sounds amazing. 167.1.143.100 16:13, 1 October 2007 (UTC)
Like I said, it's just a rumor; I haven't found any sources either. They may officially announce it soon, though. If not, take it to be November 13th; but just in case, don't get your hopes up :-P --..Wikiwøw. 22:05, 1 October 2007 (UTC)

Track lengths[edit]

Where were the track lengths listed on this page obtained? --..Wikiwøw. 20:18, 21 December 2007 (UTC)

Several promotional discs have already been distributed to people in the music industry and the friends and family of the band.69.74.54.23 (talk) 23:10, 27 December 2007 (UTC)This user forgot his wikipedia login information but wants to help anyway.

I'm sure he does. Well, I think we can wait for the track lengths to be official for a couple more weeks. Nineinchsin (talk) 16:28, 29 December 2007 (UTC)

Hink?[edit]

I've seen this word refrenced several times, all relating to Protest the Hero. Rody has spoken it several times in his Youtube vidblog and he uses it again during the quote used in the article. The sentence bears no resembelence to the game Hink-pink, it looks as if he said '..(blindfolded)' seemlingly under his breath to relate to the word 'aside' which would be a refrence to the track off of Kezia 'Blindfolds Aside' and then said 'hink' to draw attention to the fact that he just refrenced one of his band's songs. I'm wondering if this is some sort of Canadian-English slang.

I'd never seen the word before, but I think it's supposed to be some sort of expression of humor. Like when you're trying not to laugh but you do anyways with your mouth closed..Sort of sounds like 'hink.' Plus, I watched a video on YouTube where Rody laughed like that, and another user quoted it as 'hink' in the comments. That doesn't mean it's the definitive meaning, but it makes sense. In other words, it's an onomatopoeia. Regardless, it's in the original quote, so it's gotta stay. --..Wikiwøw. 01:24, 28 December 2007 (UTC)

I wasn't questioning weather or not the quote should stay, I was just wondering about the origin of the word. Also, it seems to be a popular expression among people who know Rody; Chris Wynne (who is the subject of many songs on Rody's purevolume page) has the word 'hink!' tattooed on his right forearm.

Leaked[edit]

Can we get some proof that the album has already leaked? It's probably true, but that doesn't mean you can just add it without any form of citation. And rumors on forums don't really count. --..Wikiwøw. 18:50, 27 January 2008 (UTC)

Nope, it's true. I can't find a proper link, though.

Yes it was definitely leaked to torrent sites. You're not going to find a link that explicitly says this, but it was brought to my attention that on Jan 22, 2008 you could find it on torrent sites. A quick search of numerous torrent sites proved this to be true. I don't really thing this fact needs a citation, but I'll change it so it doesn't explicitly state a date that could be incorrect. --Bouyeeze (talk) 18:32, 29 January 2008 (UTC)
